Hi everybody - just wanted to tell you that I arrived safe in NYC - the flight was nice - the people are also really nice - we are a bunch of international teachers recruited from all over the world not knowing what is really going to expect us in a nyc public school -right now we are all staying at the St. George's Hotel which is more like a cheap youth hostel but in the best area called Brooklyn Heights - lots of cafes and bars and the best of it is the promenade where you can see the statue of liberty and the Manhattan skyline for breakfast at 6 o'clock in the morning because we are still jet lagged - all day long we have some kind of workshop where we learn about the public school system and what to do if ...... (never mind - we hopefully won't get shot) - yesterday we went for our first walk to Manhatten and saw ground zero - quite impressive is all I can say - on friday we have all the interviews with the school's principles and then hopefully we are assigned to some areas (everybody is hoping for Brooklyn) and then finally I can go and find a place to stay - well - so far - I'll write later ....hugs Dorit
